Fast Food Fail: July 24-30

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday:  Ate at home!
  • Monday:   Ate at home!
  • Tuesday:   I went to Bellingham to visit a hockey friend, and she made waffles! But that’s not the bad part.  On the way back, I stopped at Jack In The Box. I had never been there before and have always wanted to try it out.  It was meh.
  • Wednesday:   Ate at home!
  • Thursday: I had a hamburger at the last lacrosse game before the playoffs start.  Once playoffs start I won’t be going straight from work so I’ll be able to eat better (I hope!)
  • Friday:   Ate at home!
  • Saturday: Tonight I went to the summer night market with S7. Hurricane potato, meat on a stick, corn on the cob, and deep fried Mars bar. Good thing fair food only happens once every so often.

Another pretty good eating week. Thursday and Saturday were planned but Tuesday was a hiccup. But eating well can only do so much. It’s just that I have no motivation to go out and do anything. How do you motivate the unmotivated?

Friday Fill-Ins (July 29)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. Summer is half over but it hasn’t even started yet. That’s the problem when we don’t get any sun.

2. How I feel about my favourite music is unchanged.  It’s this new stuff that I don’t like.

3. Aargh! I don’t have enough loonies for laundry tomorrow! I’ll have to walk over to the store while the washer is going to get change for the dryer.

4. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Not coffee. Definitey not coffee. That stuff is nasty! And not just in the morning. I don’t like it ever! Sometimes I wonder why I go to Starbucks, because the odor that emits when they grind their beans makes me want to gag!

5. Seven: days in a week; neutral pH; awesome movie; three plus four; 111; deadly sins; swans a-swimming.

6. I’m sexy, don’t you think? If you do, you’re the only one. Not even I think so sometimes.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching my last lacrosse game before the playoffs start, tomorrow my plans include going to the night market with S7 and Sunday, I want to check out the Pride Parade downtown!

Lemon Strawberry Popsicle

This new popsicle that I made is now my favourite so far!

One of my favourite yogurts is Lemon Meringue Parfait from Yoplait Source yogurt.   So I thought it would be great when frozen as well.

I cut up some strawberries and put them on the sides of my Zoku maker.

As for the main part of the popsicle, I put a few scoops of the lemon yogurt in a bowl, and added some milk to thin it to a pour-able consistency.

And once they were done, I ate devoured them!

Well, not all of them. This was the first time that one of my popsicles got stuck. I tried pulling it out too early. So it’s now defrosting on the counter so I can get it out and re-freeze it.

Grossroommate vol. 5

It’s been awhile since I’ve had one of these posts. Not because there hasn’t been anything gross, but because there are some things that I can’t take pictures of.

  • Grossroommate has got to have the worst gag reflex in the world.  Every morning I hear her almost vomiting her breakfast, only because she’s brushing her teeth! It’s so annoying!
  • She tends to only cook twice a week, but enough for 4-5 days.  As a result, there are tons of dishes that she needs to wash. And by wash, I mean she uses a cheap sponge to go over the dish. Then throws the soaked, unwrung sponge into the sponge holder (water gets everywhere) and puts the sudsy dish on the counter (water gets everywhere).  After a few dishes like this she then rinses them all and puts them in the dishrack. She’s not careful when she washes them either (water gets everywhere). And by the time she’s done, water is everywhere. I mean, all over the counter, dripping off the counter edge into my drawer that is only open 1/2 cm, on the floor. It’s really awesome to walk into the kitchen and end up with wet feet.
  • Hair! Everywhere!  Every time I go into the shower, there is hair on the wall. And on the edge of the tub. And on the floor of the tub. And of course all over the bathroom floor.  And not all of them are head hairs.
  • She doesn’t scrape her plates or pots when she’s finished eating. She simply puts the whole thing in the sink. I’ve even seen her throw some rice directly into the sink. Don’t ask me why, since the garbage is directly underneath the sink and we don’t have a garburator!  She likes to keep the plug upside down so that the food doesn’t go down the drain, but then the plug ends up getting clogged and the sink doesn’t drain properly.  And our sink ends up looking like this:
Including the food-film that ends up on the sink until I can scrub it clean (after she removes all her nasty food cast-offs!)

I guess i could take a picture of one of them.

Fast Food Fail: July 17-23

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday:  Ate at home!
  • Monday:   Ate at home!
  • Tuesday:   Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:   Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  Only a hot dog this time!  But a disappointing lacrosse game.
  • Friday:  Ate at home!
  • Saturday:   Ate at home!  While at lacrosse today, I looked around for food, but decided I didn’t want any of it, even though I was hungry.  Better to just wait until I was home.

A much better week this week!  Although with the somewhat crappy weather I didn’t go out for any walks at all.  There was also a step class that I wanted to take but I might have to wait until September because of my summer schedule.  The class ends at 10:45, and sometimes I start at 11.  But once school starts again, I won’t start working until 3pm which would give more than enough time for a shower afterwards.

Overall, I think I have a pretty good handle on eating at home.  I guess the next step is start doing more consistent exercise.  (And step on a scale? That I do not want to do at all…).   What goals do you think I should tack on next?

Friday Fill-Ins (July 22)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. Life is passing me by.  Every day is the same, and it’s getting old.

2. Wreck Beach is one of the best places to people watch EVER because, uh, yeah! (Although I’ve never been there. I swear!).  Where is a better place to people watch?

3. If I was going somewhere, the one thing I have to bring is my math puzzle magazine.  It keeps me busy if I’m ever bored.

4. September can’t come soon enough.  My summer work schedule is horrible!

5. Next year, I hope to be in a better place, at least mentally and emotionally.

6. I was looking for my keys and I found my long-lost Tim Horton’s card!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to cleaning (or… not looking forward to it), tomorrow my plans include another lacrosse game and Sunday, I want to enjoy the sunny weather we’re finally supposed be having! Time to try out my new shoes!

Fast Food Fail: July 10-16

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday:   I woke up late and so skipped breakfast. I had to head out and pick up my sister to go back to the parent’s house for S7’s birthday.  Ergo, we stopped at Tim Horton’s for breakfast.
  • Monday:   Ate at home!
  • Tuesday:  Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:  Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  Going straight from work to lacrosse, I needed food. And burgers were a dollar off.
  • Friday:  Completely bad food planning today meant I had a burger at lacrosse. It was actually the only food I had all day — skipped breakfast and lunch for no reason.
  • Saturday:  And… third day at lacrosse=third day eating there. And this one was bad. I wasn’t even hungry, and now I feel like crap.  Like really.
Well, it seems that lacrosse is bringing me down.  Thursday I can’t help much but I didn’t have to eat there on Friday or Saturday.  I need to change this, although there are only 2 weeks left in the season.  And the rain isn’t helping much in terms of me going out during the day. Luckily, next week is looking brighter.
On a side note, I did end up getting new shoes and I’m hoping to test them out soon.
