Avoiding the greatest thing on earth — chips for supper

Friday Fill-Ins (September 30)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. I need some motivation.  In life, in diet, in exercise, in all things.

2. While at the hockey game with oldboy, we were lucky we were fed by the Australians, who had ordered too many hot dogs.  Thanks, Australians! Hope you enjoyed the game

3. A great deal of fuss is being made over “Moves Like Jagger” and I don’t understand the appeal of that song.  Adam Levine can bite me because he sounds like a girl.

4. There’s nothing like ice cold lemonade in a big tall glass.

5. It was announced this week that Frank and Louie (or Frankenlouie) will enter the Guiness Book of World Records, for being the longest surviving Janus cat (cat with two faces). Isn’t he/they cute?

6. If I cooked steak, I would need steak knives.  But alas, I don’t even have a place to cook steak.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to another hockey game, tomorrow my plans include finally cleaning (after all the procrastinating) and Sunday, I want to transfer all my downloads so I can watch them!

Fast Food Fail: September 18-24

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday:  I got a beef donair. I didn’t really have any food in the house and hadn’t eaten much.
  • Monday:  Another Iced Capp at Tim’s.  So yummy!
  • Tuesday:  Ate at home!
  • Wednesday: Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  Ate at home!
  • Friday:   Burger at the first hockey game. But it was free. And it was pretty much the only thing I ate all day.
  • Saturday: Out for sushi with the siblings. I had too much. And then we had ice cream and cookies for dessert. Like we always do. Well, like I used to. An then I felt like crap afterwards.
Going out for the burger on Friday and sushi on Saturday were planned. The dessert afterwards were not. Thanks siblings! (boo)
And in other news, thanks to the Nike store for my new shoes that screwed up my knee.  I went to the running room and pointed to the shows that I own, and she said those were the exact type of shoe that I DO NOT want to wear. You’d think that the manager of the store would know something about pronation, especially since I told her I was starting to run.

Friday Fill-Ins (September 23)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. When I walk around my neighborhood I see the leaves in falling down and landing in the gutters.  Fall is here!

2. One pot macaroni is my favorite thing to cook.  So easy and delicious. But I need to make it more often!

3. Life is ok right now. I guess. I suppose it could be worse. But it’s kind of stagnant.

4. My blankie makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Cuz it’s all warm and fuzzy. And really comfortable to cuddle under (even alone) with the window open and the fall breeze coming in.

5. Zucchini is my favorite Autumn vegetable.  Fried, in a little butter, with black pepper and parmesan on top. Mmmm…

6. Pasta salad is better when it is eaten the second day. Let that sucker sit in the fridge overnight!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to the first hockey game of the season, tomorrow my plans include dinner with siblings and Sunday, I want to go to the farmer’s market, for the Best Pie In Town contest!

Big Milestone ‘Round These Parts

My blog is officially 100 posts old! Who knew that that would happen…

Have a piece of cake, on me! (Damn… I haven’t had cake in forever. Who wants to make me some chocolate cake?)

In these past 100 posts I have

  • 2897 views all time
    • 180 views on my busiest day (because of the Zombiewalk)
    • an average of 12 per day
  • 6 categories
  • 7 grossroommate stories
  • weirdest search term that led to my blog: maggots in people
  • 3 active subscribers
  • 14 subscribers on Google Reader
I guess it’s not bad for someone who doesn’t have anything to say.  Now, if only I could get more people to read… my numbers seem depressing.

Random Ramblings While…

…snooping through Facebook photos of my students:  Sometimes Korean girls are weird.  They take pictures with their fingers in a V. They put hearts and bows and other weird graphics on their faces.  But the new thing that they’re doing just baffles me. They’re blurring their mouths. ONLY their mouths.  What’s the reason? It doesn’t make any sense…. The rest of their head and the background are all normal but their mouths are just — blurred!

…people watching: I don’t know what it is, but I don’t get adults who walk pigeon-toed.  Isn’t that a childhood thing and mostly self-correcting?  I see it mostly in teenage Asian girls, who populate the local malls here, but I’ve also seen a lot of non-Asian-teenagers who walk that way.  If it’s a medical thing, sure. I get it. But the sheer amount of teenagers who walk that way makes me think that they’re doing it on purpose.

…going for a walk:  Why do guys wear their socks halfway up their calves? You don’t see girls doing that. Ever.  It just looks so uncomfortable (and ugly!).

…driving along the highway: Some drivers baffle me.  There’s a lot of construction going on the highway here, and every night there’s lane closures or whatnot. These closures are well-marked, and yet people don’t tend to see it. PAY ATTENTION!!!  I’m really tired of people who don’t change lanes until the last minute.  It’s not because there was heavy traffic and they couldn’t get in.  I was the only one in the other (non-ending) lane and yet I have to slow down because I have to anticipate that the guy will change lanes. And he doesn’t. Until he has to.
