Friday Fill-Ins: The Google Search Edition (August 17)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

The Google Search Edition

1. When _____. When is fathers day 2012? You’re asking this on August 16? I think you’ll have to do some explaining to a certain someone.
2. Where _____. Where is chuck norris? Right behind you. And behind me. At the same time. Anywhere he pleases. In other words, where ISN’T Chuck Norris?
3. How _____. Howrse? What is a howrse? A questioning horse? I’ve no idea.
4. Why _____. Why are manhole covers round? That is to prevent them from falling into the hole. Imagine if it was a square hole. Pick up the cover, align it on the diagonal, and it’ll fall straight to the bottom. Circles won’t do that. Go ahead: try to get a lid into its jar.
5. Time _____. Time in london. Did you know the Olympics are over? And the Paralympics haven’t even started yet. So unless you are going on vacation, or have relatives across the pond, why is this being asked?
6. What if _____. What if there was no google? I’m surprised google didn’t implode on itself when this was asked.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to cleaning (although, looking forward might be the wrong emotion), tomorrow my plans include watching Zombiewalk (remember last year?) and Sunday, I want to have blueberry pancakes at the farmer’s market!

Friday Fill-Ins (August 10)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. I picked out the wrong cookie.
2. I spread some good vibes.
3. I heard a little ditty, and it goes like this:

4. I wanted a little more money. Not a lot. I can make do with a little.
5. I wish that you all have a happy day.
6. I noticed a fruit fly, but he evaded capture.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to absolutely nothing, tomorrow my plans include hopefully wrapping gifts and Sunday, I want to maybe go to the farmer’s market!

Vancouver Pride Parade 2012

This is the third time I’ve attended the Vancouver Pride Parade. My first year, I didn’t take any pictures. But I sure did last year!

My vantage point this time was a little bit further back of the crowd. And it was so hot that I only decided to watch about half of the parade. But here’s what I saw:

Hiding in this car is Jenna Talackova. She was the grand marshall of the parade.  She was the first transgendered woman to compete in a Miss Universe competition. (I swear she’s on this car)

Who is that coming down the street?

It’s confirmed: Bert an Ernie are a couple!

Look at who was watching the parade with us! The owner even picked her up to watch the parade sometimes.

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT AHEAD IN THE NEXT TWO PHOTOS!! (There were a few like this)

On the way back, Granville street is closed off Sundays and street performers take over. Here is a group doing capoeira.

Friday Fill-Ins (August 3)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. Well, ok, maybe eating those cookies wasn’t a good idea.
2. I have 50 elastic waistbands.  That’s a stretch! **rimshot**
3. When I’m making a phone call, I get nervous and anxious for no reason. Telephone-phobia?
4. I know I should be eating a bit healthier.
5. And frankly, it’s so hard to eat that way. Anyone want to help?
6. Money is the root of all evil. But money^2 is all evil. So that must be worse.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching more Olympics, tomorrow my plans include finding an electronic repair place, and Sunday, I want to watch the Pride Parade (remember this?)!

Birthday Puzzlement

TheMan’s birthday is coming up. And I know what I want to get him. But I have to pick one of the many options out there. So I’m asking for help.

He really likes the urban artists Justin Bua and David Garibaldi*.  So I’m getting a picture from one of those to hang in our living room. It will be 36×24 or 24×36 depending on the orientation.  But I can’t decide which one I like best.  So of the following pictures, which one do you like?

Or if there are other paintings by either of those artists, or a similar artist that I don’t know about, please mention the in the comments.

*Fun fact: David Garibaldi is actually a contestant on America’s Got Talent right now.
*Other fun fact: TheMan kept forgetting Garibaldi’s name, and kept calling him Grimaldi. I sure hope he doesn’t like Grimaldi: a 17th century painter

The Options:

The Get Down – David Garibaldi

Urban Jazz Sessions – David Garibaldi

Skyhooked – Justin Bua

15ft Floor of Joy – David Garibaldi

El Guitarrista – Justin Bua
