Avoiding the greatest thing on earth — chips for supper

ABC’s of me!

Well, this is going around the blogosphere, so I’m going to give a shout out to Vanessa over at Random Thoughts and Acronyms because I started mine after reading hers.

A-Age –  31. Although I sometimes tell students that I’m 23. Or when I’m in a bad mood, 80.
B-Bed Size – Queen. All for me. By myself.
C-Chore you hate – Cleaning the bathroom.  I actually don’t even mind doing dishes, and if I’m over I’ll do them for you!
D-Dogs – Never had any pets. Ever.
E-Essential start to your day – Waking up. If that doesn’t happen, then my day doesn’t start!
F-Favorite Color – Green. Sometimes blue. Definitely not pink!
G-Gold or Silver – Silver. I do not like gold at all. However, if you wish to bestow something gold upon me, then I wouldn’t refuse it.
H-Height – 5’7.  Or as all my students know, 170cm
I- Interests – Math, puzzles, anything to keep my brain working. Also, watching sports.
J-Job Title – Officially, math tutor, science tutor, SAT tutor. Unofficially, also friend, mentor, confidante, advice-giver.  All the job titles that go along with a pseudo-teacher-student relationship.
K-Kids – Do not want.  I’m ok with other people’s kids. I just do not want to push them out or raise them from infancy or anything.
L-Live – Burnaby
M-Mothers Name – Mom
N-Nickname – Bek (I hate this), Hey you!, Lazy Butt (thanks to mallboy)
O-Overnight hospital stays – None. The only reason I’ve ever had to go to the hospital for myself was to get stitches in the top of my head when I was 10. I still have the scar. It looks like gum.
P-Pet Peeves – Recently, bad grammar in commercials. There’s a new hair dye called “subliime” but the pronounce it “sub-leem.”  Also, the Speedyglass commercial. It used to be grammatically correct, but then they changed it to “Speedyglass repair. Speedyglass replace.”
Q-Quotes from films – Name that movie:  “This was my wish, my dream. And I’m taking it back. I’m taking them all back.”
R-Right or Left Handed – Depends on what I’m doing.  I drink with whichever hand has the cup on that side. I do jigsaw puzzles with my left only. I write and use a fork with right.
S-Siblings – One brother, and 5 — count’em 5! —  sisters. All of them younger than me.
T-Time you wake up – Whenever I feel like it!  Except on Saturdays. That’s one of the joys of working at 3pm. Except Saturdays I work at 9am so it’s hard to wake up that early one time a week.
U-Underwear – Always from La Senza.  Boycut, cheeky, but recently I’ve been thinking of getting a thong again. No reason.
V-Vegetables you hate – Brussel sprouts. Blech.
W-What makes you run late – I really hate being late. So much that I’m usually way too early for things. But mostly I can time it right so that I’m there exactly when I’m supposed to be there.
X-X-Rays – I’ve only had X-rays done on my teeth. I’ve never broken anything or even come close.
Y-Yummy food that you make – Cookies, cake, brownies, I think I’m a decent baker. Unfortunately I don’t have an oven or the storage space to keep baking ingredients.
Z-Zoo animals – Zebra. Love them. Hence why my twitter picture is a zebra-frog, and why I asked Brent Butt to draw me a picture of one (with a calculator, naturally)!

Friday Fill-Ins (September 10)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. Do they have something where I blink and all my cleaning is done? Oh, that was “I Dream of Jeannie”? Nevermind.

2. Apparently there was an earthquake off Vancouver Island; it was as if nothing happened, because I was asleep.  This is the second big earthquake that I missed. The last one I missed because I was driving, so I didn’t feel a thing.

3. That was a very painless and awesome dentist appointment.

4. My new shoes seemed so comfortable.  Until a rock somehow gets inside them.

5. As I said, I weigh 8000 lbs.  And I just stepped on the scale and it told me to get off.

6. I’m looking for good, easy recipes but with some new twist.  My go-to recipes can get boring sometimes.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to the last home preseason game for the hockey team that I volunteer for, tomorrow my plans include possibly week 1, day 3 of c25k (can you believe I started that?) and Sunday, I want to check out the Mann Cup! National lacrosse championship!

Friday Fill-Ins (September 3)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. When I was 10 years old I was not as troublesome as the Devil.

(If you’re not following me on twitter, why the heck not? I’m awesome!)

2. Broccoli is my favorite vegetable because it just tastes that good.

3. My dream pet is one that someone else takes care of. Or a bug of some sort.

4. I hate when a group of slow-walkers surrounds you. Especially if they have no spatial awareness and they randomly turn or stop and you crash into them. Just once, I would like my spatial awareness to be greatly reduced so I actually did accidentally bump into someone instead of me always side-stepping the inconsiderates.

5. If I could live anywhere in the world I’d live in Buenos Aires.  No reason.  Give me a better place!

6. The morning sun keeps on shinin’ on me. Normally this would be good, but now that I’m going back to the school schedule where I don’t work until 3pm, I can sleep in until whenever. But the sun wakes me up 😦

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching some pre-season hockey, tomorrow my plans include cleaning up ’round these parts (because I keep procrastinating) and Sunday, I want to sit a relax, or go to the PNE!

Friday Fill-Ins (August 26)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. How in the world did I end up here and now?

2. My laptop is in front of me.  And for some reason it really likes to overheat recently even though it’s on a hard surface and the fans are all exposed.  Any suggestions?

3. Life’s just completely awesome. Always. *sarcasm*

4. Next sunny day I want to go back to the park and have a picnic lunch.

5. That was where we found it! Under that thing, next to the place, beside that item!

6. I wish that I had a place that I could think of as “our place”. But then, I’d also need an “our.”

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to the first exhibition hockey game of the season, tomorrow my plans include catching up on Reader and Sunday, I want to go to the farmer’s market again!

Friday Fill-Ins (August 19)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. It’s fun to do crossword puzzles.  What, you don’t believe me? Very satisfying when you finish one of them.  I even managed to almost finish a NY Times Sunday crossword once!

2. Last night’s dinner is easy to make. Brown some sausage, mix in a can of mushroom soup and spices, and throw it over pasta.

3. When with a group of people, I like to be in the back.  Subconsciously, I think that no one will look at me since they’re all in front of me.

4. If I don’t step on the scale I will never know! But sometimes I don’t want to know!

5. Something I’m very much excited about is ZOMBIEWALK.

6. Spending $9 on a large pizza was well worth it. But next time, I should probably only eat two slices, and divide it up in two-slice sections BEFORE I start eating, lest I eat way too much again.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to get out in the sun and work on reading my book (Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest, if anyone wants to know), tomorrow my plans include ZOMBIEWALK and Sunday, I want to veg around and relax!

Friday Fill-Ins (August 12)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. The only question is what is wrong with me?

2. I hope that I won’t have to suck my gut in one day.

3. Three things on my desk: formula sheet, calculator, and lots of loose leaf paper.

4. Wake up is the one thing I HAVE to do today!

5. I love playing with hair. Not in the way that you create different hairstyles, but just running my fingers through it when it’s in a ponytail.

6. When my grossroommate eats durian, the smell overwhelms the senses, and the entire apartment!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to doing some grocery shopping and bottle returning, tomorrow my plans include just chilling and Sunday, I want to do some cleaning ’round these parts!

Friday Fill-Ins (August 5)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. How can I get motivated?  I just feel like staying in bed.

2. Soon I want to weed out the non-people in my Twitter followers list.  But why aren’t YOU following me? I’m cool yo.

3. My hair hates me. It never does anything. And I don’t know how to force it.

4. My 10-year highschool reunion was already 3 years ago.  Man I’m getting old.

5. My favorite summer fruits include watermelon and lemon. But not together. Or maybe? Can you make a watermelon lemonade?  Can you share your recipe?

6. Repetitive knocking and a few screams…what was that?  Oh, just the upstairs people knocking boots. Again. Can they ever just take a break?

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to body-prepping — hair in different places needs to be tackled, tomorrow my plans include meeting someone (eek!) and Sunday, I want to meet a different person (double eek!)!
