Fast Food Fail: August 21-27

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday: Ate at home!
  • Monday:  Ate at home!
  • Tuesday:   Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:   Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  I ended up getting sushi for lunch. Sushi. Nom. Haven’t had it in awhile.
  • Friday:   Ate at home!
  • Saturday: I ended up getting a hot dog combo at the last lacrosse game of the season.  I don’t even know why because I wasn’t that hungry.  But a big congratulations on the Salmonbellies for the great season and making me actually like lacrosse!

Lacrosse is over, but hockey season is starting. Sometimes I’ll have to go to hockey straight from work so I need to figure out a plan for dinner.  I can’t go back to eating rink food every game.

Also, despite eating at home a lot these past few weeks (yay!), I have to admit that my home-eating hasn’t been the best.  I need some ideas for dinner that are easy to make, since I’ll soon be back to my school-schedule and home at 10pm.

Tell me your favourite easy, go-to recipe!

Friday Fill-Ins (August 26)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. How in the world did I end up here and now?

2. My laptop is in front of me.  And for some reason it really likes to overheat recently even though it’s on a hard surface and the fans are all exposed.  Any suggestions?

3. Life’s just completely awesome. Always. *sarcasm*

4. Next sunny day I want to go back to the park and have a picnic lunch.

5. That was where we found it! Under that thing, next to the place, beside that item!

6. I wish that I had a place that I could think of as “our place”. But then, I’d also need an “our.”

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to the first exhibition hockey game of the season, tomorrow my plans include catching up on Reader and Sunday, I want to go to the farmer’s market again!

Fast Food Fail: August 14-20

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday: Blueberry pancakes from the farmer’s market. I go there every year! Athough… they’re not as good as hot firemen pancakes on Canada Day!
  • Monday:   Tonight was pizza night. I haven’t had pizza in a long time, and so I ate too much of it.
  • Tuesday:   Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:   Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  Ate at home!
  • Friday:   Ate at home!
  • Saturday:  I grabbed some food on the way home from Zombiewalk.

On Saturday, I probably could have waited until I got home to find some food.  I was actually looking at McDonald’s menus this week, and while I want to try their new chicken sandwiches, I found that I actually have no desire to go there anymore. Yay!

Zombiewalk 2011

Because of my stupid work schedule this summer, I actually had time off to check out Zombiewalk for the first time!

The first zombies that I came across were these lovely zombie unicorns.

Everyone gathered at the Art Gallery to organize themselves.

Within minutes of me getting there, I already had collateral damage.  One zombie drank some blood and when she didn’t feel like swallowing it, some of it ended up on my leg!

All the zombies made their way down Robson to Denman and on to the beach. This created some big traffic hangups.  The police were all ready for the semi-street closures and had a handle on things.

Anyone hungry?  Some people really go all out in their zombification.

His neck and both arms were disintegrating…. and covered in maggots!

Zombies are were people too!

I don’t know if you can see it, but the guy in the black shirt and white suspenders has a zipper face!

What’s behind that head?

Yes there were even zombie babies! And yes, his intestines are coming out. Too cool!

When all was said and done, the zombies had to get home somehow. So this one took the bus.

At the end of the day, the Art Gallery was all peaceful again.

Friday Fill-Ins (August 19)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. It’s fun to do crossword puzzles.  What, you don’t believe me? Very satisfying when you finish one of them.  I even managed to almost finish a NY Times Sunday crossword once!

2. Last night’s dinner is easy to make. Brown some sausage, mix in a can of mushroom soup and spices, and throw it over pasta.

3. When with a group of people, I like to be in the back.  Subconsciously, I think that no one will look at me since they’re all in front of me.

4. If I don’t step on the scale I will never know! But sometimes I don’t want to know!

5. Something I’m very much excited about is ZOMBIEWALK.

6. Spending $9 on a large pizza was well worth it. But next time, I should probably only eat two slices, and divide it up in two-slice sections BEFORE I start eating, lest I eat way too much again.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to get out in the sun and work on reading my book (Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest, if anyone wants to know), tomorrow my plans include ZOMBIEWALK and Sunday, I want to veg around and relax!

Grossroommate vol. 6

For some reason, when grossroommate washes her face or brushes her teeth or whatnot in the bathroom, the ENTIRE counter gets flooded with water.  I don’t know why she has to get that messy.

Water dries, so it’s not that big of a deal. Except for the fact that she also has a lot of reading material on the counter.

For Better Or Worse, a couple of Chinese magazines including PLEM, and a bunch of other stuff that I can’t read.  That gray patch in the corner is not duct tape.

It’s the result of water+magazine.

Notice also the hair on the counter that is not, I repeat: not, mine!

Fast Food Fail: |August 7-13

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday: Well, I met the other new guy as mentioned, and we went out to dinner. Good times. That is all.
  • Monday:   Ate at home!
  • Tuesday:   Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:   Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  Hamburger at lacrosse. I was really hungry… forgive me.
  • Friday:   Ate at home!
  • Saturday:   Ate at home!
In terms of eating at home, this week was really good. I must admit that while at the mall, I stared at a McDonald’s menu board for a bit, but I didn’t even want it.  Although, this week I don’t think I ate very much. I notice on my days off (Friday and Sunday), I tend to not eat any breakfast until 3pm, if at all. So I sometimes only have one or one and a half meals on those days.  Also, with my work hours being different every day, I sometimes eat breakfast at 11, but then I don’t get lunch in before work starts and I get off at 7. So I’ve gone a long time without food.  Monday and Tuesday I had the extra burden of medication side effects so I didn’t eat much at all.
Any tips?
