Fast Food Fail: October 23-29

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.m

  • Sunday:  Mallboy and I went to the Spaghetti Factory. I hadn’t been there in such a long time. So good!
  • Monday:  I had pizza. And I gorged. This was not good. Emotional eating is horrible.
  • Tuesday:  Ate at home!  Cardio class.
  • Wednesday: Ate at home!
  • Thursday: Ate at home!  Cardio class.
  • Friday:  I bought a buffalo chicken wrap at the hockey game. I really need to start eating before going to hockey — but other than a bowl of cereal it was the only thing I ate all day. So calorie-wise I’m probably still fine.
  • Saturday:  Another night of hockey, and another night of not eating anything except breakfast before I go there.  A chicken pasta with veggies in it — wasn’t worth it. 😦

Other than the horrible day that was Monday, I did pretty good this week.  Thursday was the first time going to the cardio class where I felt sore afterwards.  I blame wide squats, and upping my weights to 10lbs during flies.  I love flies! I could do them all day long! Except I don’t think they had higher than 12lbs in the equipment room.  An octogenarian is showing me up during that cardio class, though. He keeps lapping me when we run around the gym.  But I weigh 8000 lbs, and he’s a marathon runner. So I guess it’s all relative.

Friday Fill-Ins (October 28)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. Beware of all those kids running around on Monday when you’re driving! It will be dark and the little ghouls will pop out of no where!

2. My favourite Christmastime song is “Let It Snow” by Boyz II Men. (Obviously!)

3. And since we are talking about snow, NO CHRISTMAS THINGS UNTIL DECEMBER 1!!! (Except for Boyz II Men songs!)

4. When you’re down, what puts you back in good spirits?

5. Where can I find some good, cheap date ideas?

6. Chicken noodle soup with mozzarella melted in is one of my favorite meals when it’s cold out.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a hockey game, tomorrow my plans include another hockey game and Sunday, I want to hang out with mallboy and/or get a haircut from S7.

ABC’s of me!

Well, this is going around the blogosphere, so I’m going to give a shout out to Vanessa over at Random Thoughts and Acronyms because I started mine after reading hers.

A-Age –  31. Although I sometimes tell students that I’m 23. Or when I’m in a bad mood, 80.
B-Bed Size – Queen. All for me. By myself.
C-Chore you hate – Cleaning the bathroom.  I actually don’t even mind doing dishes, and if I’m over I’ll do them for you!
D-Dogs – Never had any pets. Ever.
E-Essential start to your day – Waking up. If that doesn’t happen, then my day doesn’t start!
F-Favorite Color – Green. Sometimes blue. Definitely not pink!
G-Gold or Silver – Silver. I do not like gold at all. However, if you wish to bestow something gold upon me, then I wouldn’t refuse it.
H-Height – 5’7.  Or as all my students know, 170cm
I- Interests – Math, puzzles, anything to keep my brain working. Also, watching sports.
J-Job Title – Officially, math tutor, science tutor, SAT tutor. Unofficially, also friend, mentor, confidante, advice-giver.  All the job titles that go along with a pseudo-teacher-student relationship.
K-Kids – Do not want.  I’m ok with other people’s kids. I just do not want to push them out or raise them from infancy or anything.
L-Live – Burnaby
M-Mothers Name – Mom
N-Nickname – Bek (I hate this), Hey you!, Lazy Butt (thanks to mallboy)
O-Overnight hospital stays – None. The only reason I’ve ever had to go to the hospital for myself was to get stitches in the top of my head when I was 10. I still have the scar. It looks like gum.
P-Pet Peeves – Recently, bad grammar in commercials. There’s a new hair dye called “subliime” but the pronounce it “sub-leem.”  Also, the Speedyglass commercial. It used to be grammatically correct, but then they changed it to “Speedyglass repair. Speedyglass replace.”
Q-Quotes from films – Name that movie:  “This was my wish, my dream. And I’m taking it back. I’m taking them all back.”
R-Right or Left Handed – Depends on what I’m doing.  I drink with whichever hand has the cup on that side. I do jigsaw puzzles with my left only. I write and use a fork with right.
S-Siblings – One brother, and 5 — count’em 5! —  sisters. All of them younger than me.
T-Time you wake up – Whenever I feel like it!  Except on Saturdays. That’s one of the joys of working at 3pm. Except Saturdays I work at 9am so it’s hard to wake up that early one time a week.
U-Underwear – Always from La Senza.  Boycut, cheeky, but recently I’ve been thinking of getting a thong again. No reason.
V-Vegetables you hate – Brussel sprouts. Blech.
W-What makes you run late – I really hate being late. So much that I’m usually way too early for things. But mostly I can time it right so that I’m there exactly when I’m supposed to be there.
X-X-Rays – I’ve only had X-rays done on my teeth. I’ve never broken anything or even come close.
Y-Yummy food that you make – Cookies, cake, brownies, I think I’m a decent baker. Unfortunately I don’t have an oven or the storage space to keep baking ingredients.
Z-Zoo animals – Zebra. Love them. Hence why my twitter picture is a zebra-frog, and why I asked Brent Butt to draw me a picture of one (with a calculator, naturally)!

Fast Food Fail: October 16-22

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday: I went out with a friend of mine to the Home and Design show and we ate lunch downtown.
  • Monday:  Ate at home!
  • Tuesday:  Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:  I had a 2 hour break at work today, so what did I do during those 2 hours? Mall and food court, of course.
  • Thursday: After work I went to the mall again and ate again. Why do I do that?
  • Friday:  Ate at home!
  • Saturday:   Ate at home!

It could have been a better week. I blame PMS coming and the depression that comes with it.

In other news, I don’t know if I want to continue this series. I seem to always be scrambling on Sundays to fill in every day. And I feel like nobody reads it anyway. Thoughts? At least I feel like I have somewhat of a handle on my fast food. Way better than when I started.

Friday Fill-Ins (October 21)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. Old me would eat the entire bag; new me would not even want to buy the bag.

2. It’s always good when people are taking responsibility for their own actions.

3. So…in a way no one else can, you make yourself happy.

4. On an escalator, do you know it’s walk on the left and stand on the right?

5. The big difference boys and men is that men are taller. That’s pretty much the only difference.

6. Math makes me happy.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to cleaning (I know I say that every week), tomorrow my plans include possibly going out and Sunday, I want to do absolutely nothing!

Fast Food Fail: October 9-15

I’m reporting this in an attempt to lose weight.  I’m going to start with just updating on getting fast food (too often) or going to sit-down restaurants (more rare).  Eventually it might turn into posting all that I eat, or even how much I spend.

  • Sunday:  Ate at home!
  • Monday:  Sometimes I hate eating with my family. I tend to eat too much with them. When I went to visit my sister, we ended up at Wendy’s because she had no food in the house. So I ate too much.
  • Tuesday:  Ate at home!
  • Wednesday:  Ate at home!
  • Thursday:  Pizza. Good.
  • Friday:  I didn’t eat at home because I took to long to remember to eat food. So I had a burger and soup at the hockey game.
  • Saturday:   Ate at home!

This week was not good. While I ate at home 4 times this week, they were mostly leftovers or Thanksgiving dinner.  And I still haven’t gone out to exercise or walk or anything.

Friday Fill-Ins (October 14)

Every Friday, I’ll be participating in Friday Fill-Ins.

1. It’s easy to not eat chips now! I haven’t bought any in awhile and I don’t feel like it (unless a new flavor comes along… then hold me back!).

2.  I could watch the singing frog all day long! “Hello my baby, Hello my darling, Hello my ragtime gal!”

3. Once upon a time, there was a girl. And that girl was me. And the story is not over yet…

4. I once had a banana and it turned brown … the end.

5. What is so confusing about Euler’s identity? It’s gorgeous!!!  All 5 fundamental constants in one simple equation.

6. I‘d rather be 8000 lbs less sooner than later. But that’s not going to happen.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to FINALLY seeing eye-candy (I hope he’s there), tomorrow my plans include going to the Home and Design show and Sunday, I want to just laze around and hopefully catch up on missing sleep!

Hell’s Gate on Thanksgiving

Every Thanksgiving Day, Hell’s Gate closes down for the season. So in celebration, they have a pumpkin toss. If you bring a carved pumpkin, you get in for free.

So on Sunday, we all carved our pumpkins for the great pumpkin toss.

Yes of course, my pumpkin was math related.  It’s Euler’s Identity:
Here are the rest of the pumpkins.

My sister managed to get a fantastic group shot.

So then on Monday, two of my sisters and I trekked out to Hell’s Gate.  To get there we had to drive through seven tunnels that they dug into the mountain.

Upon arriving, we were greeted with this display.

And then it was time to throw the pumpkins while on the tram. If you click on the pic to enlarge it and look carefully, you can see the pumpkins being thrown from the tram on the left.

We’re all aiming for the two targets on the ground (that we couldn’t see anyway).  Notice the pumpkin guts!

Here are just a few shots of what you can see while at Hell’s Gate.

There’s even a giant chair! (That’s not me)
